60th Birthday Gift Ideas for Women

If you're looking for a gift for that special lady on her 60th birthday, try out a few of these suggestions. Women love literature, and books specifically directed toward women of this age can bring inspiration, reflective thoughts, and an overall wholesome feeling. So be sure to make the special lady feel loved with one of these awesome gifts!

Saving Money on Gifts

Once you’ve discovered a birthday party theme, the next thing you’d have to figure out would be a perfect gift for the person turn 60. Most of these gifts are directed toward grandmothers, but I’ve also included a few for women just turning 60 who may not have offspring. These are also all reasonable priced over on Amazon, so you won’t be spending money on over-priced items. Nothing’s better than providing a thoughtful gift without breaking the bank.

Memories For My Grandchild:

This book is gender neutral, but would probably better fit a female because of the design so I included in the gift ideas for women turning 60. It’s basically a good way to pass down information regarding your side of the family to younger generations. It has a place to write down a bit of your family tree, slide family photos and journal major aspects of your life. You can tell your grandson or daughter where you were born, how life was like when you were a kid or teenager and also provide an area where you can insert other info like letters or family recipes. Mind you, it does take a little work and dedication to provide all this info – it’s a journal about your life and family – but there are plenty of favorable reviews about how special this is to each grandparent.

There are many more journal books that do the same thing, but this is the highest reviewed one and is among the top ten best sellers on Amazon. With it being a light-weight hardcover journal with spiral binding, it makes it easy to carry around with you and write whenever the need arises. It also allows you to insert photos at the start of each chapter.

Again, this book is designed for a woman, but there are more masculine versions of these journals. A Grandparent’s Legacy: Your Life Story in Your Own Words is pretty much the same thing, but with a different format. It’s spaced out to cover a year with 12 questions the grandparent would have to answer each month. The only downside to this is that it only has two pages to put your photos, so it’s primarily something you would use to write with.

101 Ways to Spoil Your Grandchild:

If the person turning 60 loves her grandchildren (which I hope they do) then they’re probably anxious to spoil them everytime they visit. Well, if you’re wondering how to expand that relationship between her and her grandchild, wonder no more! This book has tons of information on how to get them to beg and nag their parents till it’s time to go to grandma’s house. Don’t expect it to be laugh out loud funny because most felt it wasn’t. Even so, it still gets the grandparents seal of approval on Amazon. 101 is more than enough ways to spoil a grandchild.

Another activities book would be The Grandparents Handbook: Games, Activities, Tips, How-Tos, and All-Around Fun. This book contains tons of ideas on how to better spend quality time with a grandchild. There are “how to” instructional tips concerning dollhouse building, bread baking, creating a family newspaper and flying kites. It’s good to want to spoil your grandchildren, but probably better to spoil them with educational activities like the ones in this book.

Chicken Soup for the Grandma’s Soul:

These Chicken Soup books are popular gift ideas. A lot of reviews claim this to be a tear-jerker, but also heart-warming. It’s a good read for old and young grandma’s alike. It basically honors them for the important position they still have in the family while thanking them for the work they’ve done in the past to ensure their offspring encompasses the same morals and values (or at least most of them) that safeguarded them in their lives. This is definitely a good book to have in your library.

Another, more recent, book in this series is Chicken Soup for the Soul To Grandma, with Love. This book is more tender-hearted in nature. It offers more short stories and other content that’ll sufficiently warm the heart of any grandmother. Giving these two books as gifts will surely have a grandmother crying for weeks (tears of joy of course).

Solitaire Stud Black Diamond Earrings:

Say the person turning 60 isn’t a grandmother, she can still enjoy fine jewelry. These earrings are a marriage of ivory and ebony with 14 karat white gold surrounding gorgeous black diamond studs. It’s been marked down considerably from Amazon – over 200 dollars in savings. She’ll want to wear these at fine dining restaurants and ballroom gala’s.

If she already has a ton of jewelry, she might need a way to clean them. If that’s the case, then the Sonic Wave CD-2800 Ultrasonic Jewelry & Eyeglass Cleaner is another great gift idea. It’s quiet and easy to use, plus it uses ultra sonic technology to make sure your jewelry shines! It says to just use water, but others poured a bit of dishwasher liquid and have gotten exceptional results.

EatSmart Precision Pro – Multifunction Digital Kitchen Scale:

Whether the person turning 60 is a master chef in the kitchen or they just need something to help out with their weight loss goals, this scale is a decent product. Over a thousand reviews with a 5/5 average rating on Amazon, the EatSmart Precision Pro is sure to get the job done. You can weigh different food items minus the weight of the plate or bowl, it has an LCD screen displaying large, easy to read numbers and rubber feet to ensure the scale stays in place. It comes in 5 different colors and has been cut down 40% making it a good deal.

If they’re not experienced in cooking, and need help in the kitchen, Bon Appetit is a good magazine with expert tips on advanced cooking techniques and basic information for those learning a new skill. You’ll learn how to host successful dinner parties, cook 30 minute meals and receive low-priced kitchen makeover tips, turning your kitchen into a studio where you create mouth-watering masterpieces.

Guide to Knitting:

Even if the birthday girl doesn’t feel like she plays the role of the classic grandmother, knitting is still a good craft to learn. This book has 30 easy projects to help her learn the trade. It also include instructions to create scarves, bags and sweaters for her and her family.

And although “how to” books are good, they won’t do you any good if you don’t have the tools to work with. The Clover Knit Mate Knitting Accessories Set has everything she needs and makes a good compliment to the book. You get all your tools plus a case to hold them in so you won’t lose anything. Give the gift that keeps on giving and don’t be surprised when she knits you an over-the-top holiday sweater next Christmas.
