Free Wii Game Sites, Caution is Advised

Are you interested in Free Wii Game Sites? If so, be sure to check out my thoughts on sites that advertise an unlimited amount of free Wii Games. It can be easy to get sucked up into the hype these various websites often produce. So before you decide searchig, be sure to check out some sound advice that might save you a lot of time and maybe a little money.

There are sites out there that offer free downloadable Wii games, not the ones that allow you to complete offers and surveys, those are legit, I’m talking about the ones where you actually have to pay a one-time fee to receive unlimited free Wii games. They advertise it as free, but there’s an initial payment made. They claim you’ll be able to download an unlimited number of games for free – for the rest of your life even. These aren’t free demos, either. Full games! You see testimonials, they offer pictures of the latest and most popular games and say they have thousands of games like these you can download. But to actually find out how their system works you have to sign up and dish out some money. Personally, if someone claims that they can offer anything for free, I’d like to know how they do it with a detailed explanation of the process before I start typing in my credit card number.

A good question I’m sure many of you have would be “is it legal”? If I’m spending money on something illegal, even if it’s just one time, I’m being scammed because most likely I’d be able to get that service for free. One way these free Wii game sites are able to offer free downloads is by the use of torrents which are peer-to-peer file sharing sites; popular sites like Kazaa or Napster come to mind, but instead of music they offer games. The main issue with this is whether or not these torrent sites violate copyright laws. And there have been high profile torrent sites that have had some run ins with the law. One site “The Pirate Bay” (why anyone would trust that name I don’t know) was raided by the police in Sweden. To make matters worse, some sites just provide links to these torrent sites but require you pay a subscription, leaving out the fact you can find these sites for free yourself.

Another thing about downloading free Wii games is that you’ll have to insert a mod-chip to circumvent the digital rights management found in all game consoles. It’ll void your warranty which obviously should raise a red flag. If Nintendo doesn’t want you doing this, then it’s probably illegal. There are some sites that claim they purchase the copyright laws, but the claim “free Wii games” begs more thorough info than that – nothing is free, someway somehow you have to pay for it. And nowhere on the site will you find a FAQ section. As if no one has ever asked them these important questions.

And be careful when reading and searching article reviews on sites like these because they could be written by the owners of the free download site under a different name. One thing to look for is if all the links in the article point to the same site yet the title is something general like “free Wii games”.

It’s good to have more information and insurance that you’re not being scammed. These online sites claiming free Wii games have the burden to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt their site is legit because of all the scam sites out there. WiiWare is offering free demos
